People take it from others." It means that you can't learn everything on your own, you need to hear it from someone with experience and understanding of the world. The proverb is a simile because it's comparing the wisdom to the fire by using "like". You can take some of the burning flames from the fire pit and give it to others around you for warmth, cooking, and light. Yo need warmth from the fire so you can stay warm instead of freezing. When cooking, you need to make the food edible and you'll be able to eat it. If you keep it raw, you'll not be able to survive. You need wisdom so you will know not to make horrible mistakes, or you'll be ignorant and uneducated. You can use wisdom to enlighten someone with your knowledge. The wisdom giver could have gone through something that books couldn't help you learn. You can't figure out everything on your own.
