I read the Group 4 article on cultural appropriation. In this day and age, cultural appropriation is something faced by almost every person of colour. For example, the blackface scandal of Justin Trudeau that came to light during the elections in 2019. In this article, we see that a black woman is portraying an Egyptian woman, misrepresenting history. Here, as the knowledge producers are part of a big company (Netflix) it is reaching a wide audience that could be misinterpreting and misunderstanding the actual role that Cleopatra played as the last pharaoh of Egypt. Mislabelling her as an 'African Queen' instead of an 'Egyptian Queen' has also sparked outrage in Egyptians. We also see that at the same time, Egypt produced a 90-minute documentary on Cleopatra that more accurately described her rule. However, due to the biases formed by mass media, watching Netflix due to easy accessibility, wrong information and knowledge are being spread. Therefore, this information might not be completely valid as factually it is incorrect. Through the spread of wrong information, people might become ill-informed and start believing things that are not true. The article also has some instances of bias as it is only portraying the negative reactions to the announcement of this series. Usually, there are always two sides to an argument, however, this is not portrayed in this article. Therefore, we can infer that there is some kind of bias that the author puts across through his opinions. In conclusion, there are instances of cultural appropriation that are justified by this article, however, there is no proof that this article is 100% factual because of certain biases that come across when writing such articles - Samaya

1) Evidence is manisfested in the article as it is the discovery of the new evidence which is the cause for the entire article.

Objectivity surfaces since the article sparks heated debates of about early social organization, sustainability, and what a city even is.

Interpretation is needed to correctly interpret the newfound evidence to answer the debates mentioned above.

7)There are both positive and negative consequences of spreading this knowledge. These findings challenge previous assumptions which placed urbanization later in human history. The Ukrainian settlements suggest that numerous dwellings—and by extension, cities—existed between the end of the Stone Age and the emergence of the Bronze Age. It changes everything archeologists thought they knew. Maybe humans built cities before we even thought it was possible. This can be good and bad as it can help us in finding the truth as well as cause arguments and debates since people dont always accept change.

Justification is seen in the article as he justifies the policy change by emphasizing how it’s easier for their teammates to learn, model, practice, and strengthen their culture; collaborating, brainstorming, and inventing are simpler and more effective; teaching and learning from one another are more seamless; and, teams tend to be better connected to one another.
