<title>Session 1.1. Handout 1What is YoMIM?Youth Information Centres (YICs) provide indispensable services for young people to guide them in all aspects of their lives and in their autonomous decision-making. As a Youth Information Worker, you work to provide reliable, accurate and understandable information to young people, give them access to different sources and help them sift through the information overload they face today, among many others.ERYICA’s Youth on the Move - InfoMobility project aimed at complementing these services by paying special regard to young people who take part in cross-border European mobility and this led to the creation of the YoMIM service. By especially addressing prospectively and already mobile young people, this service provides information on opportunities and practical aspects linked to young people’s stay abroad. Through these it promotes and encourages mobility, as well as provides information, guidance and counselling before, during and after young people’s permanence in a foreign country.Staying at a previously unknown place, young people have different information needs than local visitors of the YIC and these needs have to be answered differently as well. Youth Information Workers who participated in this YoMIM training and provide this service are called YoMIM Guides: they are the contact persons of mobile young people in the Youth Information Centre. Through the guidance and information they provide, young people can optimise their stay abroad. However, the YoMIM service provides more than this, namely:•	self-assessment quality guidelines for youth information centres•	continuously updated information for young people that is also available in a smartphone app and online•	the involvement of young mobile people in the host community and connection to local peersThrough engagement in the YoMIM service, the YIC can also increase and maximise their impact on the target community. Nevertheless, YoMIM Guides need to be aware of the crucial points in international and intercultural experiences, as well as be prepared to handle these issues with young people on the go. This training will go through all these aspects and endow you with the necessary skills and knowledge to be a successful YoMIM Guide. Let the journey begin!</title>
