1. How does a power plant generate electricity using magnets? What happens here?

When theres a magnet and wire and the magnet moves around the wire, it pushes the electrons in the wire, causing an electrical current.

2. Compare peak demand vs baseload demand.

peak demand is a short period of time where electricity is in a higher demand than usually. Base load demand is the minimum amount of electrical demand.

3. What are some methods used to generate electricity? Name 3

Methods used to make electricity are, nuclear energy, coal, and natural gas.

1. Describe how hydro generates electricity, or causes the turbine to spin?

Water flows through the pipe also known as the penstock and then spins the blades inside in a turbine, which in turn spins a generator that ultimately produces electricity.

2. What is a penstock?

A penstock is a gate or intake structure that controls the water flow in an enclosed pipe that delivers water to hydro turbines and sewerage systems.

3. What are the positives (pros) and negatives (cons) regarding hydroelectric power generation

A pro of hydroelectric power generation is that it's a clean energy source.

A con is that it causes environmental damage and has high upfront capital costs.
