A group guideline would be to split group projects and assignments equally so the amount of work one group member is assigned is the same compared to the rest of the group mates. Another guideline is if meeting with groupmates is needed, each person's availability should be taken into consideration to find the best time for all group members. Overall, a group is needed to work together to successfully complete the assignment, it does not mean each member has to “like” working with each other but being respectful of one another’s ideas and suggestions is very important.

A group guideline is the rules and guidelines needed for a successful group project. This would be the respect that you need to establish with others and split up certain work. This is something that needs to be equally done and achieved so the project goes smoothly and the members are able to continue the respect for each one of the members.

One group guideline could be putting in extra effort to group projects because you know your entire group will get a score based on the work. Instead of having the ideology that someone else will do it so you can take the back seat, be proactive and do your best work. This will ensure a better score for the entire group and less stress for everyone individually.

This makes it so no one will think they are being given an unfair portion of work. Another guideline I have is to always ask questions and for help, whether it is from the teacher or fellow group members. This will make it so the work is done correctly and efficiently. Since it is a group assignment, working together efficiently will help ensure the best grade possible is acquired. Proper communication is a key guideline as well since it will allow for questions to be answered, deadlines to be sorted out, and allow for selecting a time when everyone can work together to get the work done!

Also do not be scared to ask for help, because asking for help could lead to better understanding and work load overall. A group guideline would also be separating the workload upon one another and make sure everyone in the group is comfortable with their position/assignment. Lastly, a group guideline could also be having deadlines as a group in order to have time to review the whole group work and make any changes. - Jessica Zaragoza

A group guideline that is essential is to communicate. Communication is one of the biggest things needed to have a successful group project. By being able to communicate there would be no confusion about what each group member is responsible for. Additionally, communication is needed when managing the project to ensure it is completed properly prior to the due date. To accomplish this, there are many apps and outlets to communicate with such as text messages, groupme, emails, etc. It is always recommended to have a "paper trail" of the conversation so the group is able to reference the conversation if there are any questions or concerns.

A group guideline that is key for successful group effort and results is time management. Setting small deadlines before the final deadline allows the group assignment or project to be completed on time and gives time for revisions on any errors that do not meet the requirements and purpose of the project. This also ensures that everyone is on track and each individual is able to complete their part of the project that may be needed to be finished before other members can work on their parts.

By delegating a specific role or task to each group member, the project or assignment becomes more manageable and it allows for each person in the group to contribute. Groups usually have a designated platform to have all group members communicate through it, making it easier to work together. Meetings are mandatory for group members to discuss questions and concerns regarding the project or assignment. This creates trust and respect among the group members since they'll have to reach some form of understanding with each other.

- Ellen Bui

A crucial group guideline in successful collaboration is to make sure each section is being overlooked by other members of the group. This will ensure each section is done to the best of its ability. By having other individuals peer review before turning it in, the section of the project can be strengthened by focusing on rubric guidelines to ensure no points are lost. Peer review is also another way to bring more ideas to other sections of the project. To have this guideline in a group, I would set one deadline for all members to have their part complete about 3-5 days before the actual deadline, followed by a second deadline for completed peer review.

A group guideline that is essential to successfully contributing and completing a project is holding high standards of accountability. I think it is essential for each person to share any concerns or questions that they may have about their designated part of the project, as well as taking the time to look over their other peers' contributions. A great way to uphold accountability is to set deadlines and meeting dates for all of the group members to share their updated work, so that each person can make any needed corrections that the entire group agrees on. Each group is being graded on the combined work of each member, so it is important to have an open, respectful discussion about all aspects of the project. Staying accountable helps everyone understand any circumstances that may come up along the way, as well as efficiently working through any issues.

A group guideline is for everyone to collaborate and figure out the roles of each person and group meeting times. This document would ensure that not one person is leading the group or completing all assigned tasks alone. Figuring out the roles of each person would distribute the work evenly, and everyone should be expected of everyone to complete their tasks. A group meeting would also ensure that the group can meet up with each other, whether virtual or in person, and discuss their progress or concerns from the group assignment. The group meeting would allow everyone to help each other out and understand how to complete the task more efficiently. The meeting would also allow group members to communicate with each other. If one group member isn’t upholding their responsibilities, then the meeting can be used to figure out the issue behind this and find a solution to help that group member complete their task.

By having a set meeting time that works with everyone’s schedule it aids in having an effective communication and allows everyone to participate!

A unique group guideline is to ensure that everyone knows how they are going to contribute to the assignment. It is important to be straight forward about what be done and to ensure that effort is being put it. It would be unfair if one group member were to lack effort while others exceeded the expectations. This is also to say that there should also be an establishment of how detailed we want to be with assignments so no one does more work than the other. We should communicate with one another how we can make improve our work rather than criticizing one another. We can critique each other in a respectful manner rather than scolding. Additionally, we should get each other’s contact information and establish what best times we can be reached so we are comfortable with seeking help among our peers.

A group guideline that I think is important is to have effective communication, especially when someone has questions. It's important for us to communicate when we have a concern about our part just in case someone in our group has the answer. Communication is also important when keeping track of deadlines for certain parts of the project. I'm sure many of us will have multiple projects due by the end of the semester so it would be helpful if we all knew and communicated the deadlines.

Plus, you can enjoy the rest of your weekend without having to think about it!

It will allow for each person to take part in and divide up the group work evenly, while respecting everyone's new ideas and feedback. Everyone should always feel comfortable with asking questions when in need of help because at the end of the day we're all working in a group and it's our job to be there for one another. It is also important to establish a meeting date for when the group should meet and be time efficient so that each group member is able to make the best use out of their time on what needs to get done.

A group guidline that I found works well when I am doing projects is setting clear roles within the group that utilizes each of our unique strengths (Writing, research, editing, etc.). I have found that when roles are delegated to each member the overall quality of the project tends to be better because each person is doing something that they excel at rather than being forced to do something that they aren't quite as good at.

I believe when it comes to group projects dividing up the work evenly always sets your group up for success. It shows that each and every individual in the group puts in the same amount of work/effort as the others. It holds everyone accountable. Another is always keeping an open mind and respectful when others are voicing ideas for how they envision the project to be completed. Constant communication is vital that way each and every member is aware on where they stand with completing sections of the project for certain deadlines. I would say the most important group guideline that I value is keeping in mind that everyone in your group has a life outside of school, whether it be social outings or work. Time is valuable and can be very difficult to juggle around. When a group is able to find a perfect set time to meet up and provide updates/progress for their section of the projects its vital that each and every group member shows up. Everyone is dedicating and setting aside their time to meet up with everyone so the the group project can be successful as possible. If things do come up because we all know life can be unpredictable at times its good to notify your team as soon as you can that way they are aware that you wont be able to make it, in reality its just the courteous thing to do when working with others in a group.

- Vanessa Padilla

One group guideline that I think always makes group work easier is setting smaller deadlines for everyones part of the work. for example, we would set a deadline to have our individual work done 3 days before the official deadline, in case anyone has trouble completing their part or we run into an issue. By doing this we aren't stressed out trying to submit the work right before it's due, and we have time to contact the professor for help or work it out.

Group projects from my experience are a complete hit or miss, but for the most part, what I am able to gather is; If all work is divided, discussed, and agreed/confirmed with each member, it is usually done on time and is cohesive. Everyone has their own personal business to attend to outside of school. Hence, you have to be flexible with some individuals that only have the availability to work on the project closer to the deadline, but ultimately as long as it's turned in on time and cohesive that is all that matters. It's hard when no one is communicating or not providing updates on the work their doing. Ultimately, we just have to be adults and get this stuff done, cause we all have the same objective, to pass this class.

Group work is all about flexibility between one another, seeing as everyone has other things going on besides school in their lives.

Good group guidelines to follow would be to have great communication. Communicating with your group members can allow everyone to voice their skills and how they can benefit the group with everyone coming together with their different skills. Communication is also key for allowing everyone to work together in a timely manner, by having everyone express their schedules to make sure the group project can be finished before the due date. Setting an early due date through such communication can allow there to be extra time to work on the project in case there is extra work needed to be done, extra time in case of emergencies, and extra time to make sure everything is turned in properly in the correct way.
