The children, consumers,  workers, and women had it the toughest. The Children had to take up jobs that risked their lives every single day. The Workers had the worst working conditions ever. In the meat factory they worked with a vat of boiling grease behind them. One slip up and they were done. These people were known as reformers and muckrakers. They also formed groups they called unions. They all had basically the same goal. They wanted to make conditions better, and all had a different way of doing it. The Unions, because they were made up of workers from a company often went on strikes. Reformers tried to fix it with the laws, and force then to improve conditions.
