The obvious debate is between American English and RP British English, but another issue we have to contend with is which 'errors' we should correct.

This course in terms of descriptivism further complicates that issue as I start to straddle the line between linguist and teacher. There are legitimate dialects of English beginning to evolve in places such as China and India that make "mistakes" that are historically considered uneducated. For example "he go" or "she say." This also exists in native dialects such as Cajun English and Ebonics. 

When a learner says "he go other day," dropping the article and conjugating the third person in a predictable way, should I correct or no? You should not have to change how you speak to be accepted into general society as language, itself, is varied and doesn't contain one set variety.
