 It is okay to subscribe to more than one ideology. 

It is natural for your teaching philosophy to change over time as you gain new experience. 

Changes in ideology can be mapped 5 different ways - called life histories. 

1. Life history as a trip
2. Life history as a set of influences 
3. Life history as a composite of ideologies 
4. Life history as a portrayal of internal change 
5. Life history as a vector analysis of influences on an educator

Different situations demand solutions from different ideologies. 

Ideologies can shift between subjects. 

For example an educator teaching math could take a more scholar academic approach and then shift to a social reconstructionist perspective while teaching history. 

We can change our ideologies to better serve our current students and their needs. 

The most effective teachers are chameleons.

1. Dualistic - Educators only value one ideology with a dualistic perspective of right versus wrong. From this perspective educators see two sets of curriculum beliefs - their own and ones that are different. 
2. Relativistic -  Educators give equal value to each viewpoint.  Curriculums opinions are viewed as equal and no belief is held higher than another. 
3. Contextual - Educators believe that each ideology is best suited for certain purposes.  Alk ideologies are valued because they can accomplish different tasks. 
4.  Hierarchal -  Educators can differentiate between other ideologies well making a commitment to the one they value the most.
