Element 1 Your Book Review

The book, Everything Everything, was by Nicola Yoon. The genre of the book is Non-fiction. It was mainly about a girl named Madeline that had a rare disease called Baby Bubble disease. She was basically isolated from the world. She couldn't go outside, touch anyone, and she had to be careful about what she ate. However, a young man moved in next door, named Olly, that changed her life. They fell in love with each other and took risks to be with each other. While they continue to fall for each other, Madeline's mom is trying to keep her daughter from getting hurt like she did when her husband and son died. If you keep reading you will find out the shocking news Madeline's mom tells her at the end. Madeline discovers how life is a gift and she should live it to the fullest.
I rank this book a nine. I rank it a nine because it kept me interested. I was always excited to know what happened next. However, towards the end the book kind of left me at a cliffhanger. It never did tell me if Madeline made up with her mom or about how Olly and her spent their life together in New York. To sum up, I would recommend this book to someone. I would because it can let someone know how life is a gift and you shouldn't waste it sitting in your room watching tv. It could also teach you that you shouldn't take your life for granted because there are people in even worse conditions.

Element 2 Analysis of Book Review

The writer of the review, Whitney Joiner, describes Madeline as being a, "princess trapped in a castle." (joiner) She explains Madeline's situation and how she lives her life the same way everyday. Joiner also explains how Madeline's chances of finding love were low until she met Olly. Joiner quotes Madeline saying, "I am not lonely, she tells her mom, "I am alone. (Yoon) Those are different things." This shows how humble Madeline is about her condition.
I do agree with Whitney Joiner's view of the book. I did discover something new by reading her review. I discovered how Madeline was like a princess trapped in a castle. I saw it as looking at it from a different view. I realize that you can take more than one lesson or moral from reading this book and peoples reviews.

https://www.nytimes.com

Element 3 Universal Theme

There is one main universal theme in the book, Everything Everything. The universal theme is life is a gift. Carla expressed this to Madeline before she left. Before Carla is fired she says, "It's not your fault. Life is a gift. Don't forget to live it." (yoon 140) Carla knew how important it was to Madeline to live her life without worrying about her situation.
This is a universal theme because it is an idea that applies to anyone regardless of cultural differences, or geographic location. The phrase, "Life is a gift" is relevant to the world today by people taking everyday risks and living their life to the fullest. People are not taking their life for granted anymore. The phrase that most people think of before they do something extraordinary is, "You only live once." (YOLO) This all shows that there is more to life than the eye can see.

Element 4 Character Analysis

Madeline is a humble, independent, well-rounded person to be around. She part African American and Japanese.(Yoon 45) She loved to read books during her free time. Madeline also spends most of her time hanging out with her mom playing games. She is mostly motivated to find love and explore the world for what it has to offer.
Madeline affects the story's events and other characters by her situation. Meaning that she has things she wants to do before she "dies." She puts Olly at risk when she chooses to run away to Hawaii. Madeline also puts herself at risk when she goes outside for the first time in 17 years to save Olly. (Yoon 105) Madeline also continues to keep her mom worried everyday by keeping secrets from her. This all shows how desperate Madeline to living her own life.
One specific way I can relate to Madeline how she has a protective mom. Like Madeline's mom, my mom wants to know where I am, what i'm doing, and who i'm with at all times. Another thing we have in common is the way we like to explore the world. Like Madeline, i'm always picturing myself traveling to luxurious places. As you can I have a few things in common with Madeline, however we are different too.
