Some people stay near volcanoes as that is where their communities and jobs are. Jobs as guides, miners are available near volcanoes. Geothermal energy is used near volcanoes and last but not least, people may be too poor to be relocated.

Firstly, we can benefit from tourism here. If we are tour guides, we can make a lot of money as there are many tourists flocking to Mount Mayon even after a devastating explosion. Trips to the majestic and formidable volcano spiked from around 15,000 to 22,000 in January 2017. And that is only the data for 1 city near the volcano! Many tourists can visit the ruins formed by Mount Mayon, which is definitely a spectacular sight.

Secondly, Mount Mayon helps in growing delicious mouth watering food quickly. Lava and other materials from volcanoes makes the soil fertile and ideal for agriculture. In some places, farmers adapt their farming styles and types of crops grown to suit the type of ash produced. Volcanic ash and rock contain elements which are suitable for many crops. Over time, the rocks and ash break down and cause the soil to become very fertile, which is beneficial for the crops. Thus, it is better to be a farmer here than anywhere else in the universe. 

Last but not least, why would anyone want to move away from their life? Many people grew up near Mount Mayon and many memories were crafted there. We have our community and friends there and without them our means of living would be severely damaged. We would also lose our sense of identity and culture when in a different place. There wouldn’t be anyone to help us when we relocate to an entirely foreign and bizarre city. We wouldn’t be able to support ourselves easily.

Therefore, we should stay because tourism, agriculture and memories are big things that we consider and decide and it's enough to make us convinced to stay.
