• ST2 is staffed daily from 8.30am. When you arrive, we’ll help you get organised for your day

• You can go over your timetable, your equipment, including a chromebook, any cover teachers and talk about how you're feeling

Learning Support

• We help you in your lessons or in the base, depending on what works best for you at that time

• You might work on schoolwork or homework

• Sometimes you’ll work in a small group or on your own, with support

Social and Emotional Support

• If you feel worried or upset, there’s always someone to talk to

• We can help you with friendships, emotions, and problem-solving

• You might join small group sessions to build confidence and social skills

Breaks and Lunch

• You can spend break and lunch in the base if that’s what you prefer

• There are quiet activities, games, and staff to chat with

• It’s a good place to relax or take a break from busy areas

Planning Your Day

• We’ll help you organise your day and keep track of your timetable

• You’ll get help with homework, learning tools, and staying on top of tasks

• We can use visual timetables or reminders if that works for you

Working Together

• We talk to your teachers to make sure you’re supported in class

• We keep in touch with your family so they know how you're getting on

• If you have other people supporting you (like speech therapists), we work with them too

• We will support you with your homework

• The base is a quiet, safe place to take a break if things feel too much

• We have sensory tools, comfy spaces, and calm activities to help you feel better

Working in ST2 with our students is one of the most rewarding parts of my life. Every day is different, and every student teaches me something new. I love being part of their journey—whether it’s helping them feel more confident, supporting them through challenges, or celebrating the little victories that mean so much.

What I love most is building trust and real connections. Seeing a student smile, try something new, or feel proud of themselves makes everything worthwhile. I feel lucky to be part of a team that truly cares, and even luckier to work with such incredible young people.

No two days are the same—and that’s what makes this job so special.

Fun fact: I love crystals, aromatherapy, tattoos music and the beach!

I love seeing students grow in confidence and learn new things in their own way. Every day is different, and I feel proud to be part of such a supportive and caring team. It’s amazing to celebrate each student’s progress—big or small!

In my spare time, I enjoy yoga, cooking and going out for long walks.

Fun fact: I travelled around India and East Asia alone for 6 months!

ST2 is a great provision for students with an autism diagnosis, who can thrive in mainstream lessons but still benefit from specialist support.

To apply for a place, you would need to consult with Fosse Way School through the Local Authority at the annual review.

Transport is not provided to ST2 by the Local Authority, so this would suit students who can either travel independently or can be dropped off by a parent/carer.

ST2 Students spend around 80–90% of their time in mainstream lessons, supported by Fosse Way staff where needed.
The ST2 base is available as a quiet working space, tutor room, social area, or regulation space.
Students can access Chromebooks linked to Writhlington’s system.
Support is personalised, with opportunities for 1:1 help, study skills, and emotional support.

ST2 staff work with Writhlington’s Progress Leaders and external agencies (Speech and Language, MHST) to ensure students’ social, emotional, and EHCP needs are fully met.

Our transition process usually includes:

• Visits to Writhlington – students and families are invited to look around the school, meet the ST2 staff, and see the classroom.

• Transition meetings – we work closely with the student’s current school, parents, and professionals to share information and plan support.

• Gradual introduction – where possible, students have taster sessions or short visits to get used to the environment before starting full-time.

• Personalised timetables – we build a timetable that balances mainstream lessons with access to the ST2 base for regulation and support.

• Ongoing communication – families are kept updated and involved so the move feels smooth and positive.

Our aim is to make sure every student feels safe, understood, and ready to succeed in a mainstream setting with the right support in place.

Tests and exams can be taken in a smaller rooms with fewer students and or in the ST2 base with appropriate access arrangements, e.g. extra time, reader, scribe, or computer use.

Students can study a wide range of GCSE and BTEC subjects, see attachment above for a full list of courses.
Many ST2 students go on to sixth form, university, and beyond – with previous learners achieving places at Oxford, Bournemouth, Bath Spa, and Cardiff.

Our classroom has quiet work areas, comfy spaces to relax, and helpful tools to make school life easier. The staff are here to support you so you can do your best and enjoy your time at Writhlington.

Here’s what you’ll find here:

• Reception Desk – where our friendly staff can help with questions, messages, and signing in or out.

• Student Services – for lost property, timetable queries, or any help you might need during the school day.

• A Social Space – plenty of room to chat with friends or wait for after-school activities.

• Information Displays – find out what’s happening in school through screens and noticeboards.

The Atrium and Reception are designed to be welcoming and easy to navigate, so you always know where to go and who to ask if you need help.

In the theatre, you can:

• Perform on stage in plays, musicals, and concerts.

• Learn backstage skills like lighting, sound, and stage design.

• Join drama clubs and workshops to build your confidence and try new things.

• Work as a team with other students to put on amazing shows.

The theatre has tiered seating, professional lighting and sound, and plenty of space for rehearsals – it’s just like a real performance venue!

Whether you love acting, dancing, singing, or helping behind the scenes, Writhlington School Theatre is a place where everyone gets the chance to shine.

Here’s what you can expect:

• Hot meals every day – with choices like pasta, jacket potatoes, main meals, and vegetarian options.

• Grab-and-go snacks – sandwiches, wraps, fruit, and drinks for a quick lunch.

• Breakfast service – a great way to start the day.

You can sit with friends, relax, and have a proper break in a welcoming, social space.

Writhlington school has amazing facilities:

The passionate PE team offers a huge range of lessons and clubs – from rugby and hockey to trampolining and climbing – with a focus on both fun and performance.

We also work with top organisations like Bath University, RFU, LTA and FA to give students extra coaching and opportunities.

Writhlington's goal? To help every student leave Writhlington physically confident, mentally strong, and ready to stay active for life.

Writhlington classrooms offer:

• Bright, modern learning zones and corridors designed for different subjects — from Science & Tech to Humanities & Creative Arts.

• Flexible layouts: smart boards, technology-rich resources, and comfortable seating that help make learning engaging and interactive.

• Specialist rooms for practical work (e.g. labs, workshops) so students can explore, experiment and learn hands-on.

The highlight of the placement was producing and airing their very own radio show live on air! This was a brilliant opportunity to build confidence, develop communication skills, and gain hands-on experience in a real working environment.

We are so proud of their hard work and professionalism – a brilliant achievement and a true example of making the most of work experience opportunities.

They worked alongside the café team to take orders, prepare drinks and snacks, serve customers, and keep the café running smoothly. This hands-on experience was a great opportunity to build confidence, practise communication skills, and gain valuable insight into working in a busy, customer-facing environment.

We are so proud of how professionally they approached each task and the positive feedback they received – a fantastic achievement and a big step towards independence.

They supported the visitor experience team, helped welcome guests, and learned about how the Baths are run day-to-day. This was a brilliant chance to build confidence, practise communication skills with the public, and explore what it’s like to work in a busy, world-famous tourist attraction.

We are so proud of their enthusiasm and professionalism – they were a credit to ST2 and the school

Students from ST2 school took part in a full programme of track and field events – from sprints and relays to long jump, rounders and tug of war – with everyone cheering each other on. The atmosphere was electric, with staff and students coming together to celebrate sporting achievement and participation.

Highlights of the day included some fantastic record-breaking performances, close-fought relay races, and plenty of smiles and laughter from start to finish!

In Year 10/11, we visit River Holford to see how the river changes from source to mouth.

You’ll collect your own data, take measurements, and work as a team – just like a real geographer. This fieldwork is a big part of your course and counts for 30% of your GCSE grade, so it’s a great opportunity to learn by doing and boost your results.

All the data they collected will be used for their GCSE fieldwork exam – which counts for 30% of their final grade. A brilliant day of hands-on learning and teamwork!

Jax helps create a calm and happy atmosphere, and students enjoy spending time with him. Therapy dog visits can help reduce stress, boost mood, and make the school day feel that little bit brighter.
