         <title>The Fugitive Slave Act </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Fugitive Slave Act was a law that would help catch slaves. The Congress passed it in September of 1850. That act required that slaves would be returned to their owners. Also,  even if they were in a free state. The act also made the federal government responsible for finding or returning an escaped slaves.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Amendment of the Gradual Abolition Act passed in 1788. The Amendment prohibited Pennsylvanians from transporting pregnant enslaved women out-of-state. The act also declared that any enslaved individuals who intended to move or settle in Pennsylvania would be permanently declared immediately free.</p>]]></description>
