Think globally, act locally.
Today I got confirmation that small things matter. There is no choice to become a global citizen. You can be active participant or passive. But all of us are a part of globalization.
Also I learned about international learning. There are many themes for international learning, for example, sustainable living, indentity and belonging, conflict and peace, rights and responsibilities, fairness and equality. Those themes in some ways are included in social or civil curriculum. I agree that international learning gives valuable lessons.

Today in our jungle classroom our topic was: What does it mean to be Global Citizen? Good to stop think it time to time. Especially when you are doing international projects in your school and sometimes it seems there is no time to think anything.
I realized that there is value in itself. Skills like critical and creative thinking, collaborating, communicating, self-awareness are are practiced in international learning.
And most importantly taking action.
Knowing- caring- acting

I agree with Megija, think globally, act locally. And the important part is really act. I liked our conversations today and disliked the traffic around Point-a-Pitre. Once in nature, good session in the surroundings. Maybe there is something Finnish about. Some of the global citizens' ideas are "too high" but the basic goal is in right direction. By the way, in the rainforest, it rains.

What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet.” William Shakespeare uses this line in his play Romeo and Juliet to convey that the naming of things is irrelevant. But today I have learned that names are very relevant. It says a lot about a person. That is why I think that giving a name to your child is a big responsibility which dhoukd not be taken lightly.

Today, when looking at the trees in the rainforest, I've learned that we cannot exist without the others, we are global citizens whether we like it or not. I find the idea of taking it down to a group of 100 people very convincing when explaining to the students how privileged we are (if the world had 100 inhabitants = 100 %). And once again I am happy that I've overcome my stupid fear of animals and enjoyed swimming under a waterfall in the rainforest! Thank you Megija and Raquel, you've encouraged me!

“ A man’s feet should be planted in his country, but his eyes should survey the world .” – George Santayana. Too often, we focus on what divides us, rather than what unites us. Being a global citizen does not mean abandoning a national identity. Rather, it means enriching it with the joys and responsibilities of being part of a globalised world. Global citizens get involved as members of the international community and are committed to building on this community in a meaningful and positive way. This means that aspiring global citizens need to develop skills related to problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, communication and collaboration. In today’s lesson I have learnt the we need to expand our borders, our understanding starting from specific things and moving on to global ones such as our name - community - society …

“Think globally, act locally”

Today I have learnt about the importance of being in contact with other realities to start changing things. Our pupils need to see, feel, touch in order to change their own self. Once they do it, they will be able to act.

As teachers, we are so swamped with paperwork that, at the end of the day you just want to switch off, and our most important role, that of being in contact with students and being an inspiration to them, just fades away.

I had always thought that the problem of too much paperwork was a Spanish issue. It surprised me to know that it is a worldwide problem, that other European collegues are dealing with the same. Are we doing anything to change it?

“If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed”.

Maybe it’s time to give the first step, maybe it’s time to act.
