         <description><![CDATA[<div>I rarely do class circles for issues specific to harm unless there is a clear classroom culture issue that is impacting most folks in the room. Here are some ways I have approached <strong>circles after harm that have gone well:&nbsp;</strong></div><ul><li>“What class norms have been honored or not honored recently in class…”&nbsp;</li><li>“I heard this come up in appreciations and concerns, let’s unpack…”</li><li>“I want to apologize for my frustration in this class. I’ve been impacted by x. I will do y to support this class in the future. What can you do to support this class in the future? …”</li><li>“How were you impacted by x event…” (not about specific person’s actions)</li><li>Circles after community trauma: bit.ly/3DoY4s7</li></ul><div><strong><br>Tips: <br></strong>It helps to invite counselor, teacher, or community partner for backup if you're new to this and talking about trauma <strong><br><br>Times I have done a Class Circle for harm this year:&nbsp;</strong></div><ul><li>Classroom consistently talks over each other to the point that it affected their grade on a Socratic Discussion</li><li>Classroom consistently throws objects and injured another student</li></ul><div><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Physical fights (Suspension, Re-entry circle, and mediation)<br>-(Cyber)Bullying (Suspension, Re-entry circle and mediation or accountability plan depending on severity)<br>-Overt Racism (Suspension, Re-entry circle, accountability plan)<br>-Sexual harassment (Suspension, Re-entry circle, accountability plan)<br><br>These events usually trigger a suspension. After a suspension, best practices state that there should be a <strong>RE-ENTRY CIRCLE</strong> and <strong>accountability plan</strong> to circle back and communicate with all stakeholders. <br><br><strong>REENTRY CIRCLE</strong><br>Done in neutral space with administrators, parents, teachers, supportive peers when a student returns after harm or prolonged absence<br><br><strong>Guiding Questions/prompts:&nbsp;</strong></div><ul><li>Check in--connection to bridge experience</li><li>How each person will support the student</li><li>What the student/family needs</li><li>What commitments will each person present make to support the student and what commitments will the student make?</li></ul><div><br><strong>Tips: <br></strong>As many stakeholders present as possible helps students feel more connected(Student, family, advocates, community partners, coaches, teachers, principal, students’ friend/peer)<br><br></div>]]></description>
