Some of the characters such as montag (in the beginning), mildred, and mildred's friends are ignorant which the society has deemed the right way to live. Others like beatty, faber, and montag (towards the end) are knowledgeable and they use knowledge as their power upon others. -  People that talk a lot will say something that is little of value and not important. So in F-451 when people are speaking they just want to be heard and what they are saying has little value. The government doesn't allow words from a book but words empty of meaning are allowed.

- In the beginning of f-451 montag is happy because he is ignorant but this girl asks montag a simple question he questions every thing and gains knowledge which sends him down dark but enlightening path.
