A Food Allergy is when the body's immune system has an inappropriate reaction to a certain food, and attacks itself. Some of the most common are milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, fish/shellfish, etc.

Symptoms can range from minor, such as cold symptoms, hives, rashes, dizziness, and bathroom issues. To be more serious and life threatening, which includes asphyxiation, fainting, throat tightening, and vomiting.

A Food Intolerance is when the body's digestive system has trouble digesting a food, and exhibits symptoms later on. These are more likely to go away with age.

Symptoms here are more minor, and are more similar to that of a virus. Such as abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, migraines/headaches, etc.

These are why food labels are crucial, and required by law to list common allergens and ingredients.
