Behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism are three major theories of learning that have different perspectives on how people learn and acquire knowledge.

Resources for behaviorism should focus on providing clear, step-by-step instructions and immediate feedback to guide learners towards desired behaviors. Curated resources may include instructional videos, interactive simulations, and practice exercises with automated feedback. Gamification elements such as rewards, badges, and leaderboards can be effective for behaviorist approaches to encourage desired behaviors. Moreover, resources for cognitivism should engage learners' cognitive processes, promote active thinking, and encourage the organization of information into meaningful structures. Curated resources may include well-structured textbooks, case studies, concept maps, and quizzes that challenge learners to think critically and apply their knowledge. Online discussion forums and peer interactions can be valuable for cognitive learning, as they allow learners to exchange ideas and gain different perspectives. Lastly, resources for constructivist learning should be open-ended, allowing learners to explore, experiment, and build their own knowledge through discovery and reflection. Curated resources may include project-based learning materials, problem-solving activities, and real-world applications that encourage learners to create and adapt knowledge.

It's important to note that many modern educational approaches incorporate elements from all three of these theories, as they recognize the value of addressing different aspects of the learning process. We should need to consider that curating resources is also considering our students.

Learning theories tell us that good learning resources should have different features to help people learn in the best way. These include step-by-step guides, quizzes, and rewards from behaviorism; activities that make you think and solve problems from cognitivism; hands-on projects and activities from constructivism; group work and videos of people doing things from social learning theory; and real-life examples and simulations from situational learning. By using a mix of these features, we can make resources that help everyone learn better.\

Ivy Marie Montebon
Cebu Institute of Technology- University

The learning theories serves as the guide on what kind of resources is appropriate in your student. An effective teacher does not get anything he/she feels that is relevant to the lesson. But rather, curate and filtered out the most essential resources she can get with the guide of the learning theories.

As a student teacher, these educational theories play a crucial role in helping me better understand and support my students' learning. Behaviorism offers insights into how to manage classroom behaviors. For instance, when I use a simple reward system like extra recess time for good behavior, I'm applying behaviorism to encourage positive conduct in the classroom.

Cognitivism aids me in designing lessons that consider how students process information. When I break down complex concepts into smaller, understandable parts or use mnemonic devices to help students remember key information, I'm using cognitivism to assist my fellow students in their learning process. Lastly, constructivism encourages me to create engaging activities that enable students to actively construct their own knowledge. For example, when I facilitate group projects or encourage students to explore topics through hands-on experiments, I'm promoting constructivism, which fosters independent learning. In conclusion, as a student teacher, these theories help me become a more effective educator, guiding me in creating meaningful learning experiences for my students, and ultimately, supporting their growth and development.

Twinkle C.

Learning theories facilitate the comprehension of student learning and for the teacher’s guide of the selection of instructional materials that are suitable for the student/s. This provides a framework for future educators to incorporate learning theories into their strategies for providing learners with hands-on activities, collaborative, and self-directed learning. Educators can construct an assessment and instructional activities that are suitable for all learners, taking into account their individual learning styles.

Learning theories guide the curation of resources by highlighting how individuals learn best. For behaviorism, clear instructions and repetition work well; cognitivism suggests resources that stimulate mental processes; constructivism emphasizes diverse, hands-on experiences; connectivism values networked learning; social learning theory encourages collaborative tools; experiential learning calls for practical applications; multiple intelligences require varied resources; and self-determination theory emphasizes autonomy and competence. Educators should tailor resources to align with these theories, fostering effective and engaging learning experiences.

Resources for behaviorist learners should prioritize clear objectives, systematic feedback, and repetitive practice. Cognitivism highlights mental processes like memory and critical thinking; resources for cognitivist learners should offer information-rich content, interactive activities, and reflection opportunities.
