Abstractionism in dance looks more unfamiliar compared to the original conception of dance. Nikolai used different costumes and diverse scenes to detach themselves from the formal scenes of dance and allow the dancers to move freely and tell a story within their bodies, conceiving questions and a mysterious genre within an audience. Abstractionism feels mystifying, and different compared to the usual competition dance we see, giving a new perspective for an audience.

I chose this image because it shares the importance of extreme timing, as you can see, the dancers are at the perfect timing at the leap, which pulls the whole show together to give it a nice touch. If one of them were to make a slight mistake on the timing, depending on the music, etc, it could ruin the moment and cause a lot of disorganization and cluster for the rest of the show. Abstact and Figurative dance are two very different styles of dance. Abstract dance exemplifies the non-figurative elements and uses the human body to paint a picture in a viewer's mind. Abstractionism in dance removes itself from daily and common movements and perceives the dancers differently in the physical part of dancing. On the other hand, Figurative Art is derived from real object sources and many shapes, designs, and hues play a large role in creating imagery in a Figurative painting. Figurative art has also evolved a lot. For example, in the early Renaissance, it broadened its parameters. It started an essential landmark in the evolution of figurative art such as new paintings and ideas of how art should be created and perceived. The key features of an abstract painting/ dance are removing itself from the usual moves/ stories and not representing an everyday object, but creating new and diverse ways of drawing and perceiving the world. Abstract art is more of an art that you have to explore the whole scene and figurative art is more based off of familiar objects where you just have to look at the object. For example, Pablo Picasso art work is more abstract because he uses shapes while Van Gough uses scenic and realism. Another example is Trisha Brown who was a famous abstract dancer and choreographer.

Figurative art is where you can predict what will happen next because it is familiar and abstract art you can not predict what happens next because it is not familiar and so we don't know what the next move is.

Based on today's dance experiment, I would define abstractionism as a form of dance or art that allows you to move and create a story freely, in your own ways that remove yourself from the usual art and dance world and creating your own guidelines based on what kind of story or scene you want to portray in your work.

Figurative Art and abstract dance are both very unique styles, and both come in many diffrent ways. When thinking more deeply about the two we can observe that Abstract appears more free. This to me represents how abstract is has no rules at all, and has no restriction's. On the other hand Figurative Art represents objects that are used in real life, in each image. When looking above you can see an image of a real girl, living in a real setting, while the Abstract Art shows more freedom, and is not of anything in real life.

Based on the dance experience right now I would explain Abstractionism as a style of dance that has no rules, and that it is a dance style that allows someone to be themself. When thinking about this more deeply I think that when a dancer or an artist express themself by movement or shape. Lastly Abstractionism to me represents somebody to tell a story about their personal background.
The movement that especially stood out to me was the modern contemporary dance that I observed. To me this dance showed how it had a meaning, and it had be wondering about many things. This dance to me was extremely interesting and fascinating.
