While Henrietta  lived under very different circumstances the title sentiment "Only The Good Die Young" rings true in the case of the book as well. In "The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks" the family doesn't know much about what happened to Henrietta and for the most part even her children don't really care to learn more about what happened to their mother because in their minds shes gone and they don't want to revisit the time. However one person, Deborah, defies this trend. In the case of ILOHL it is about both racism and death. Henrietta was in such incredible pain and inevitably on the path to death that when it happened it must have felt like breaking free of the bounds of the hospital bed.
