Hello all, due to the pandemic, coming together to remember our Grandmother Pat Karr is proving to be very difficult.
So in an effort to promote safety for everyone and still honor her impact on so many lives, we are asking you to use this platform to share photos, stories, videos of your interactions with her. As well as connect with each other (feel free to comment on other's posts). Thank you for your understanding in these difficult times.
Just hit the plus button in the lower right hand corner and a pad will appear that you can add your story.
I'll eventually be posting video of her interment ceremony to this page as well.

Patricia Elouise Karr (Cockburn) - 2/5/1922 - 12/29/2020 Patricia was born in Milton, Oregon on February 5th, 1922 to Leta Lorraine Cockburn (Van Slyke) and Victor Marfield Cockburn. Victor was serving as Postmaster at the time. The family moved up the Walla Walla River when she was four years old. Pat and her sister Lela Heller (Cockburn) attended schools in the area as children. Pat spent all four years at McLoughlin High (Mac-Hi) School and graduated in 1940. She went on to attend beauty school after graduation and met her husband, Floyd later that same year. They married on April 4th, 1942. After marrying they moved to Portland where he had found work in the shipyards. Their only child, Vicki, was born in February of 1943 the same year Floyd entered the service. Pat and Vicki moved back to Milton-Freewater around the same time. Four years later, after Floyd returned from the service, they purchased their first house in Milton-Freewater. He went to work in the Ford garage until Scarff Motors in Auburn called him to run their parts department and they moved to Auburn, Washington in 1948. Both Floyd and Pat worked steadily for decades at Rohr Aircraft parts plant in Auburn Wa until Floyd’s retirement in the early 1980s. They were active in their community and Pat was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. With retirement they started spending their winters in Mesa Arizona, returning to Auburn to spend time with Vicki and her family in the summers. Pat and Floyd enjoyed their travels and spending time with family and friends. They loved to play cards, dance and entertain. They returned to Milton Freewater later in their life before moving together to Wheatland Village in Walla, Walla Washington in 2008. Floyd passed away in 2012 and Pat moved to Maple Valley, Washington to be closer to Vicki, her husband Erik Martinson, adult grandchildren Derik and Shawn Martinson and new great-grand daughters Bridget and Tatum Martinson. She was preceded in death by husband Floyd Karr and both Vicki and Erik Martinson. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 29th, 2020 at nearly 99 years old.

I've know Pat for 72 years. My family moved to Milton-Freewater from Weston when my twin sister, Judy and I were 8 years old. We lived 2 houses from Pat, Floyd and Vicki. A fond memory of mine was going to Pat's house after school for snacks, supervised games and fun. Pat was the neighborhood Mom to 8 of us. Another memory is that Pat and Floyd always phoned Judy and me on our birthday. No matter where we lived, the call came. Pat's house was always open to friends. Every visit from my family was full of laughter and fun. Pat was the kindest and most caring woman I've ever known. We will miss her.

Remembering a pillar of our lives over seven decades. My twin sister, Joan and I lived the formulative years of our lives as neighbors and youngsters under the wings of Pat and Floyd in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. I particularly remember Pat as a creative seamstress and spirit filled mother who spent endless hours making dance recital costumes for Vicki and Marie. The neighbor kids always looked to Pat for fun filled adventures. Then in our high school years, we experienced the guidance and passion once again as we relocated into the Seattle area with our Mother facing the experiences of life away from our small town country community. How thankful and appreciative we felt to again be under their loving wings. For fifty more years they followed all the phases of our adult lives and whenever we could visit with our families they were the hearts and spirits of our lives. What a tribute to have been important in her life. Judy (Payant) Berthold

So many memories run through my mind as I think of Pat. She was like another mom to me and I loved her dearly. I kept in touch with her all through my life until just a few years ago when she was moved and I lost track of her. I first met the Karr family when I was probably in the first grade, 70 some years ago. I spent a lot of time at their house. Pat and my mom Leona decided that Vicki and I should take dancing lessons. Pat made our costumes and sometimes played the piano when we entertained at different events. They had Vicki and I dancing all over the area. Many fun times with Pat and Floyd. It was best not to visit during the day when Pat was watching her soap operas and you knew when wheel of fortune came on Pat headed to the bedroom to watch. I loved to watch Pat snd Floyd dance. You could tell they took dance lessons. So many wonderful memories and I will miss her. Give Floyd, my mom and Patrick a big hug for me. Love you lovely lady. You will be missed.
