         <description><![CDATA[<div>This  hormone helps regulate and alter long-term food intake and energy expenditure, not just from one meal to the next.<br><br>Produced by Adipose Tissue. The target organ is the brain (particularly the hypothalamus).&nbsp;<br><br>Leptin is a mediator of long-term regulation of energy balance, suppressing food intake and thereby inducing weight loss.&nbsp;<br><br>Leptin receptor deficiency is a condition that causes severe obesity beginning in the first few months of life. Affected individuals are of normal weight at birth, but they are constantly hungry and quickly gain weight. The extreme hunger leads to chronic excessive eating (hyperphagia) and&nbsp; obesity.<br><br>treatment:<br>leptin treatment helps people with lipodystrophy follow a healthful diet. Without leptin, they are always hungry; leptin treatment dramatically reduces their appetite and thus also decreases their food intake. Leptin is the first approved therapy that is indicated for people with generalized lipodystrophy.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Thyroxine is the main hormone secreated into the bloodstream from the thyroid gland. The hormone targets all body cells and is vital in regulating the body’s metabolic rate, heart and digestive functions, muscle control, brain development and maintenance of bones.&nbsp;<br><br>The main functions of Thyroxine is it's ability to activate nuclear transcription of large numbers of genes for the synthesis of enzymes, structural proteins and transport proteins, as well as increasing the metabolic activities of almost all the tissues of the body.&nbsp; Thus, an increase in thyroxine causes an increased body temperature due to the increased pase of cellular respiration.&nbsp;<br><br><br>Thyroxine deficienyc is caused by iodine deficiency and some symptoms include:<br>(due too decreased metabolic rate...)<br>- lack of energy&nbsp;<br>- forgetfulness and depression&nbsp;<br>- weight gain&nbsp;<br>- feeling cold<br>- impaired brain development&nbsp;in children<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>
