Robert Hooke was an English polymath, physicist, astronomer, geologist, meteorologist and architect. He was one of the first scientists to investigate living things at microscopic scale in 1665, using a compound microscope that he designed. Robert Hooke was born on July 18, 1635, in Freshwater, United Kingdom. Robert Hooke is known for his discovery of the law of elasticity (Hooke's law), for his first use of the word cell in the sense of a basic unit of organisms. We should learn about Robert Hooke because of his law of elasticity we can learn about the stretching of a solid body (for example, metal or wood) is proportional to the force applied to it. The law laid the basis for studies of stress and strain and for understanding of elastic materials. Hooke applied these studies in his designs for the balance springs of watches.

https://kids.britannica.com/students/article/Robert-Hooke/326597#:~:text=In%201660%20Hooke%20discovered%20his,for%20understanding%20of%20elastic%20materials.
