In the beggining of the book, we see Starr as a girl that is not antissocial, but feels like she doesn't fit into places like partys, even her neighbourhood ones. She mentions on the first chapters a double personality she has got as a way to fit in to both worlds: her school and her neighbourhood.

She calls her school version Williamson Starr and describes that person as someone approachable that does everything or choose to do nothing so she won't be resumed in black people stereotype. Starr considers herself nonconfrontional, wich is good as a way to protect herself from being jugded, even when her actions are not agressive.

We will talk about police violence with black people and relate it to the book “The hate U Give”.

Police violence it is a really important theme to discuss because it is something that happens a lot of times with many people, and we need to highlight this violence with black people, because they suffer much more than white people. We can see this in many researches about the theme and cases that the situation is the same but the police officers are unfair with black people.

We can relate this to the book in many parts, because it is one of the main themes, highlighting Khalil's death, that show us the violence that the police officers have with black people, seeing Khalil doing nothing and One-Fifteen thinking that he was involved with things like drugs, so on the first opportunity, the police officer shot him three times.
