There are many strategies to prevent, manage and resolve conflicts. To begin, It is very important to understand the message being conveyed to you. There are many barriers such as: Jargon, Disabilities, Cultural differences etc (HCSD 10), that make it hard to be open and on the same page. Some of the strategies include understanding the following: Language Barriers, Psychological barriers, Physiological Barriers etc.

Language Barriers:
" Language and linguistic ability may act as a barrier to communication. Regional colloquialisms and expressions may be misinterpreted or even considered offensive" (HCSD 11). In order to prevent conflicts with Language Barriers it is important to make sure what you are saying is understood and or what you are hearing is correct. In order to manage conflicts regarding language barriers one must again, make sure the words are being understood correctly. Finally, in order to resolve conflicts one must reevaluate the situation and settle the miscommunication.

Psychological Barriers:
"The psychological state of the communicators will influence how the message is sent, received and perceived" (HCSD 11). It is very important to understand how psychology ties into communication. Understanding this will better prevent, manage and solve conflicts. It will prevent conflicts by allowing one to understand the point of view of another. In addition to this psychology can manage conflicts, by overcoming the psychological barriers one can better take hold onto the conflict and decide how to solve it. Also, by overcoming the psychological barriers one can solve conflicts by understanding where the other person is mentally.

Physiological Barriers:
" Physiological barriers may result from the receiver’s physical state" (HCSD 12). Understanding where someone comes from physically can help communication skills immensely by preventing, managing and solving conflicts. Understanding physiological barriers will allow one to better prevent conflicts by communicating in a way that will not offend the other person. In addition to this, overcoming physical barriers will help manage and solve conflicts by channeling out any miscommunication and allowing for meaningful conversation that will prevent future conflict.

A few years ago my friend and I got in a huge fight, it was all miscommunication and we both thought it was eachothers fault. Because of this neither one of us apologized. We both could've prevented the conflict easily but we did not, in addition to this, neither one of us managed the conflict. We both could have managed the conflict better by listening to both sides and used conflict resolving strategies.
