This quote  explains the conflicts that the Little Rock Nine had to go threw, it also gives the reader an idea of how the guards were not doing there job correctly. In the text it states that "Those who did received similar treatment as the Nine, such as hate mail and threats." This quote shows that the little Rock Nine received hate mail from the White Students and threats that could have been prevented by their guards it also shows some more conflicts that they had to go through..
