At first he studied philosophy, but later he discovered during a playwright course that filmmaking is his passion. He started with small commercials and short films, but quickly made longer movies with higher budgets. He did al this together with his friends: Owen and Luke Wilson, who became famous actors later in their lives.

He has had a big impact on the indie filmmaking business, because he shows the world that indie filmmakers can be succesful too. His last movies are the most succesful, but before he became a serious director he was just making movies for fun with his friends (Owen and Luke). One of his first short films was bottle rocket, wich he made and produced with a very small budget together with Owen and Luke Wilson. He makes this clear through his characters, who often are troubled by mental health issues or have complex family relationships. 

I personally think that it is very important that mental health becomes a bigger topic in our media and culture. In his movies he shows his characters going through complex emotions and feelings like grief and suicidal thoughts, because sometimes the world can be very colorful around us, but that does not mean everybody is always colorful on the inside. I sometimes make short films with my friends for fun as well, but would like to become a professional filmmaker in the future. Anderson has shown me that if I just follow my passion I could become a professional filmmaker myself.

I really like to study his filmmaking techniques and his storystructures. He inspires me to follow my interests as a teenager and he shows me that everyone has to start somewhere. I also take another important message from him: that good friends can last forever. I say this because Owen Wilson plays a character in almost every film (even the recent ones) and even now they still work together.
