It was a typical relationship where we love each other and then fall out of love as that relationship grew old.

Hi... I'm Areum and I'm one of those people who loved someone dearly, fell from a serious trap and then breaking free from it.

I had a boyfriend, his name's Jaehyun, and we've been in a relationship for 2 years.
Just like a typical relationship story, we were still whipped for each other in the first few months of our relationship. Not until after our first anniversary. Everything just changed. From our morning cuddles, it turned into just plain greetings. From our late night talks, it turned into heads on pillows and drifting to sleep without talking. I know that maybe because of we've been busy and all, but somethings really off.

Days turned into weeks then months. Our sweet talks turned into arguments. Sweet mornings turned into sour ones. I think it's been like centuries when we last talked sweetly at each other. I don't know... Maybe he changed, or I changed. That's when I opened my eyes really wide only to know he's happy with someone else. My world then crushed, colors fading into gray, memories of us together turned into a dream that the dreamcather didn't caught.
We broke up on the day of our anniversary. We've parted ways, him leaving the apartment and me staying there, feeling the coldness of being lonely. Every corner stained with memories of him.
I cried day and night for weeks. How can I forget him if he already carved his name on my heart? He grew a big part of me and if he's gone, it's like my whole system can't function.

It was hard moving on. You have to get used not waking up next to him. You have to forget him completely, even by means drowning myself into alcohol. It was hard.

Not until you realized, after a year or so, you're better off without him. What's the point of crying for him if he isn't coming back to you, saying he's wrong? I've had enough. I have to prove to him and to myself that he was a waste of time. I started with different style and changing my lifestyle with him into lifestyle for me.

I became alive times two! Instead of crying for him for days, I started to meet new friends that made me open up for them about my struggle. Instead of staying at home, I started to travel and discover things that I can't do when I was with him. That's when I realized, when I was with him, I was like a bird on a cage that can't fly freely. Now, I can fly and freewheel without him.

Now, I know that being loved is great, but loving yourself is much more better.
