Here's a comprehensive list of Aesop's fables that students would be able to read through. I could start the lesson by having the students look through the website and discuss any of the fables that they may have read before or talk about one of the new fables they have read that they found interesting.

The Odyssey

I can discuss with students about how this is one of two major literary stories from the Greek author Homer and is one of the earliest instances where history was written as opposed to being spread orally.

The other work by Greek writer Homer, who brought one of the first written accounts of a major historical event. I can read excerpts with students and discuss how these events may have been different originally but that there's historical evidence which shows that the Trojan War did in fact take place.

This series could be used as an example of modern media drawing influence from ancient Greek mythology and a jumping off point for students to read independently for their own entertainment. A good activity would be for students to research the similarities and differences between Percy Jackson characters and the original Greek counterparts.

This book series could be used as a reference source where students can research and study the Gods and Myths of ancient Greece and how those stories informed the daily lives of that civilization's citizens.

This website could be used to provide context to student as to what were the values of ancient art in Greece and what they thought was worth depicting. An activity that could build on that idea would be to have student create art in the style of ancient Greece with the same purposes as them.

Due to its shorter length, this could be a great popcorn reading activity to learn about the man who quickly conquered the territories from Greece all the way to North Western India and successfully spreading Greek culture wherever he went.

Greek Architecture

This webiste could be used for students to learn about the different forms of Greek architecture and its notable features. There can be an activity where students can try and identify the Greek features that they are able to see in architecture from different eras in history and even across the United States.

These are short stories that can be easily digested by students so they get an idea of the stories that were created in ancient Greece. Students can read a few of those stories and in groups they can create a short presentation to share their favorite stories to the rest of the class.
