         <title>What I Learned-Sanjana Kolluru</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I learned many things from this presentation. One thing I have learned is that there are 6000 living species of echinoderms. I also learned that these species evolved 6 million years ago.<br> Another thing I learned is that echinoderms can eat each other. They are carnivores and their stomachs can expand to be outside the body to eat certain types of prey. Finally, I learned that echinoderms are difficult to kill because they regenerate and their spines to protect them from most predators. In conclusion, this presentation helped me learn many things about echinoderms and seastars.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>     Water enters through madreporite, which is on top of the animal. Water vascular system is used for food transportation, waste transportation, respiration, and movement. Radial canals carry the water to the arms. In the arms are the tube feet, the water then goes to the tube feet. This then helps the sea star move around easier.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are  4 main stages for a starfish. There is the Spawning of the starfish, the Egg stage, the Larval stage, and the Juvenile stage. In about two years the starfish will become an adult and like on its own. A starfish has many different body parts that helps it live. The body part that a starfish contains is the Ring Canal, Rectal Cecum, the Stomach, Gonad, Pyloric Cecum, Gonopore, an Intestine, Radial Canal, an Ampule, and a mouth with an esophagus that helps get the starfish's food down. Most of these body parts help the starfish live and survive in the ocean.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I learned that a 2 year old sea star is actually an adult.  I also learned that if an arm falls of a sea star, a hole other sea star can form from that arm.  I learned that to eat, sea stars push their stomachs out of their mouths and into their prays shell.  I also learned that sea stars are actually carnivores.  I now know that a Water Vascular System is a  system of closed, fluid-filled tubes and canals of echinoderms used in clinging, transportation, feeding, and respiration.  I know now that an Ampulla<strong> </strong>is<strong> </strong>a bulb that shrinks to let water enter the tube foot.  That is what I learned.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the larva stage of a starfish, the starfish is a small jelly blob that floats around in the water eating microscopic flora. They are too small to be seen from the naked eye in this stage. Then the starfish enters the juvenile stage. In this stage the starfish is a small adult and hides under rocks or crevices to protect themselves. They begin eating algae and in two years later they soon become adults. Starfish are also able to regenerate if they lose a limb. This happens because they have an abundant amount of stem cells.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>To begin with, one thing I learned in this presentation, was how starfish start off as small jelly blob, which floats around eating microscope flora and fauna. In order to protect their eggs, starfish lay on top of them. Once they hatch, they must catch the ocean drift, and then they're on their own.  A whole new starfish can form if only a starfish's arm is removed with part of the central disk.  They're able to do this, because they have a a ton of stem cells.  They also have a water vascular system, which is used for movement, food manipulation, and respiration. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>From this presentation, I learned many things about seastars. First, I learned that they have many organs, just like humans. Their organs include the ring canal, intestine, ampulla, as well as many more. I also learned that starfish are carnivores, eating clams, mussels, and oyster. One thing I found interesting was that starfish are considered adults once they are about two years old, and the average life span is 35 years. It is very hard to kill these echinoderms because they can regenerate limbs, and may even cut off their own limbs infected with diseases.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The slide required a moderate amount of research and engagement. With the definitions that were typed in, the knowledge of the anatomy and body systems of a seastar were able to be learned. First, I learned about the Ambulacrum, which is the total of each of the radially arranged bands together with their underlying structures, through which the double rows of tube feet protrude. In addition to this, I also learned about the Ambulacral groove, which is the part of the seastar, which is a bordered furrow near the oral site of the starfish. This furrow includes two to four rows of tubular projections called feet or podia.</div><div> The last thing I researched on was a defense mechanism of a seastar, which is called the Pedicelleriae, which is a pincer that appears in large numbers, </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Starfish absorb water using the ampule. The ampule is a bulb that is near a starfish's mouth. The ampule is a bulb that shrinks to let water in. That is how starfish survive underwater. The water then goes through the gonopore which are dorsal openings through which gametes are expelled into the water to be fertilized. The ampule and the gonopore both work together to get water in the starfish's body. There are many more things that I learned from this slideshow that everyone worked on to accomplish.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Starfish can grow more than one limb.  I learned that when starfish eat their stomach comes out to eat.  I realized that starfish have spines in there arms.  Water gets caught in the ring canal and then is distributed throughout the body.  Pedicellariae is a defensive organ like a minute pincer present in large numbers on an echinoderm.
