It is the hottest planet in our solar system and that is because of the greenhouse effect. Co2 makes up 96% of Venus's atmosphere, and by watching Venus with the green house gasses we can see what could happen on Earth. The planets day is longer than its year and it has a very slow period of revolution.

The clouds on Venus are toxic to enough to burn through human flesh, this is because of the sulfuric acid and there is lots and lots of clouds on this planet. The clouds on Venus also defuse a lot of the sunlight that is given to the planet, so its pretty dark.

Most of the surface of Venus is made of dried lava, up to 70% of the surface face is actually dried lava. Much like Iceland and Hawaii's basaltic rock. Instead of black the planet gives it an orangeish tint because it tends to loose its shadows.
