It was devastating that Lennie died, however, I feel that George knew Lennie was going to be tortured by Curley for killing his wife. Likewise, that being said, George killing Lennie and giving him one last happy memory was probably a lot better than the brutality he would have experienced otherwise.

I think no one care about Curley's wife's death. I love how Candy just immediately blames her for not being able to attain their dreams due to her death. I was like what was the point of that? she is already dead. I know she isn't a major character in the book, but at end of her character she was kind of made out to be human because she was ranting about her dream. She also said " I coulda made something myself, Maybe I will yet" and it was kinda dark.

I was really conflicted because I know Lennie didn't mean any harm, but he still killed someone. I don't think George had any other option, either Curley was going to shot him with the shotgun or throw him in jail. Letting Lennie die happy might've been the best choice.
