         <description><![CDATA[<div>There is a lot of pressure and a lot of stress that comes with competing because you are not just representing yourself but also the school. Nutrition is important to a healthy lifestyle and sometimes as college students/ athletes we are not so focused on our health. School, competing, and possibly an outside job take priority instead of health. Nutrition is something college athletes need to make a priority as well to be in a healthier state but also compete at maximum level.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Performance and recovery for college athletes is enhance by attention to nutrient intake. A nutrition plan for health and performance is identifying the right quantity, quality and proper timing of food and fluids needed to support regular training and peak performance. Although, as training demands shift with off season and being in competition season student-athletes also need to adjust their intake and distribution of essential nutrients. This is important when it comes to maintaining a balanced diet that supports academic training and competition needs.&nbsp;(NCAA)</div>]]></description>

         <title>Nutritional Knowledge and College Athletes</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Research indicates that the nutritional knowledge of athletes is minimal. America's college youth is having a problem with the lack of available healthy fast foods or easily prepared food. College students sometimes have little time between classes and practice but sometimes have little room to meal prep based on dorm rooms. Current research indicates that as athletes knowledge increases, nutritional quality of food choices improves. Student athletes with nutritional knowledge may obtain information to help increase performances and maintain healthy weight. However, sometimes when they are looking to improve their nutrition the information that they recieve can sometimes be unreliable and can contribute to the problem of athletes making poor dietary choices.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Health and Wellness Coaching is still a fairly new modality in Integrative Health. Health and Wellness Coaches usually can get a certificate in the modality and then sit down for the National Exam. For Nutrition people can get a minor, an associates, a bachelors, a masters, and even a PhD in Nutrition. There are different types of nutrition though and that is when someone would need a certain degree, license, certification to work in certain Nutrition groups. Nutrition is so broad that different degrees are needed to work in certain groups of Nutrition. For mine it would mostly be Sports Nutrition since I plan on working with athletes in the future, if I decided to further my education in Sports Nutrition. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>College students and college athletes do not have the resources to focus on their nutrition in college. When it comes to college athletes it is important to have a nutritional plan to perform at maximum level on the field but also in the classroom. Nutrition is a huge part of an overall healthy lifestyle and not having the knowledge or being aware of the type of nutrition needed for a specific sport isn't great. It is my hope to help student athletes in the future with their overall health and that does include&nbsp;Nutrition. I hope to minor in Nutrition when I move on to finish my bachelors degree. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>NCAA worked with sports nutritionist to help student athletes know how to eat and what to eat before, during, and after practice. Before practice athletes are supposed to eat foods low in fat and moderate in protein and fiber 2 to 4 hours before practice. During practice athletes should sip on 2 to 4 ounces of sports drink for real-time fuel. After practice a well balanced meal within 2 to 3 hours after finishing and consume fluids to replace losses.&nbsp;(NCAA)</div>]]></description>
