-Follow a routine : we have our routines set, like meals, homework, bed time routines. We pick out her clothes the night before so that even if she wanders, she has her clothes ready.
-Use timers: the noise of the timer keeps her alert to know that she has something to do and when it rings it’s like a reminder of what she was doing.
-Buy a band: we place a band at the front legs of the chair so that if she tries to kick , she won’t harm nobody.
-Buy a textured Matt or pillow: while she sits she can move around and feel the textures on it.

As a parent of a child with ADHD its like an endless day. When we are out she does not listen, can't sit still, she runs around. During meal time she will fidget a lot, kick and tap on the floor or those around her. Sometimes she doesn't finish her meals because she will just get up and leave. When doing homework she gets frustrated and aggressive because she is irritated of having to stay put. During class she is very disruptive, loses her things, and is doing bad. We get calls almost everyday.

She is the same as other children because she is very creative, intelligent, compassionate. The difference between her and others is that she cannot concentrate and it takes her longer to finish a task but that is only because her brain does not function the same. When asking her questions she might not seem like she is paying attention because she looks everywhere but she will (:. I want you to know that all though it is tough, it is worth seeing my child's growth and how she is developing. I would not trade it for anything else in the world.

We were referred from our Primary Dr. Stein to a mental hospital called “Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic.” A mental hospital to look for a psychiatrists as well as a therapist was recommended for the initial screening. We were able to get a therapist named Gloria and a psychiatrist named Dr. Jones. If it wasn’t for our friends and searching online I would’ve never found these free services. Thankfully it has not given us a financial burden because we try to take advantage of all free services we can get.
