One of my favorite strategies is readers' theater where students get to 'perform' a skit or play with their peers. this activity helps students with their reading fluency development, oral development, and social development. working with peers can allow students to follow along with the advanced proficiency-leveled students through homogeneous grouping. This teaches them how to read with prosody, rate, and accurate speed which are key components of reading development. By working in groups, students are working on their speaking skills and social skills with one another.
