The women told him that she was the mother of God. She asked for a small house to be built for her on that very spot. so juan told the bishop what happened but he did not believe him so he sent him back to get proof. but guan couldn't come back to the spot because his uncle was very sick. But it got worse so he went to the church to fetch a priest. On his way there he saw Mary, she said that she would protect his uncle and sent juan to the top of the hill to gather flowers. To his amazement he found roses in the barren, frosty ground. He gathered the roses and went to the bishop. He opened his Tilma to let the roses fall. She wore a black cincture or sash, indicating that she was pregnant and she was surrounded by rays of sunlight.
