There were very many economic impacts of the war of 1812. Canada did not benefit as greatly as the Americans did after the war of 1812. The Americans learned to be their own manufacturers that helped them a lot during the war because that meant that they didn't have to rely on other countries for anything and this helped the Americans expand their territories west. Since the Americans had spent so much money on products that made they go somewhat bankrupt. This made it easier for the Canadians to ambush them.

This is one of the ships that they traded with.

________________________________
After the war of 1812 the United States never returned the First Nations land. In fact more settlers started inhabiting in the First Nations land. This then lead to the First Nations never getting the land that they were promised from the United States.

This is a picture of another country inhabiting in the First Nations land.

Before the war of 1812 took place the people of Upper and Lower Canada could sense that dangerous times were ahead. Since the war took place in Upper and Lower Canada where those people lived it was unsafe for them. Overall, there were over 170 battles, raids, and skirmishes which are unplanned fighting between small armies. They were the people who suffered the most.

This is a image of one of the Upper Canada families that suffered from the war.
________________________________

The American settlers in Upper and Lower Canada were all mainly happy to remained loyal to the British crown. The American settlers were loyal to the British because the British would help them if they needed it. For example if the Americans needed seeds to grow more crops the British would give the seeds to them. We were a bit shocked when we read this because the Americans had fought for their independance from Britain in the American Revolution. So ultimately the Americans fought against them a bit in the American revolution but also remained loyal to them and needed their help.

Key Political Outcomes~

There were many political outcomes from the war of 1812. One of them was the Treaty of Ghent. This Treaty set many boundaries between the Americans and Canadians. This Treaty was made to end the war of 1812. The political outcome of this was that the two countries needed to agree to sign the treaty and follow it. Also since both countries wanted to end the war it would be easier for them to follow the rules of the treaty. But while they were negotiating, the British actually burnt down the capitol in Washington DC. The treaty took a couple of months to sign but it was worth it.

This is when the British burnt down the white house.

This is a picture of the Treaty of Ghent.
