What grows/is farmed on each piece of land? Give a detailed description. Identify the specific crop and what it's used for once it is harvested.

Plot #1 is going to keep our livestock and keep them occupied.

Plot #2 is going to be used for growing hay and it will be used for feeding our livestock.

Plot #3 is growing potatoes and it's used for consumption and selling. We will harvest them every 2-3 weeks after they have finished flowering.

Plot #4 is growing corn and the corn will be used as another feeding source for the livestock. It will also be used for feeding ourselves and selling. We will also harvest them every year so we will plant sufficient corn to consume/ sell for the majority of the year and plant more when it's closer to the beginning of June.

Plot #5 is growing carrots and its main purpose will be mostly for consuming about 20 percent of our grown carrots will be going the the animals like cattle.

Plot #6 is growing wheat and its purpose will be to feed our animals and about 20 percent of it will be donated to local charities/ farms that are struggling.

Plot #7 is going to keep out wind turbines and we will keep on plot 7 to keep the noise as quiet as possible. The wind turbines can turn the power of wind into the electricity we will use to power our homes and businesses.

Building #1: Building one will be underground and will look like the outhouse from Shrek from the surface. From underground it will look like the bat cave from the 2012 movie. It will be used for only emergencies and in case of any natural disasters.

Building #2: Is going to be a greenhouse and it's going to let us control the temperature and humidity that we expose to our plants. The greenhouse will collect the incoming heat from the outside, turn it into heat, and keep the warm air.

Building #3: Will be our house and will be used as our main place of residence and will be used as our main entertainment stop.

Building #4: This will be our storage stop where we will keep all of our extra supplies for framing, food for us, food for the animals, and just extra necessities.

Building #5: Building 5 will be used as our barn to keep our animals. Its main purpose will be to keep and maintain our animals. It will be used for rain, thunderstorms, and other natural incidents. The animals will be able to go in and out as they please.

How do you prevent soil erosion? Use at least 5 soil conservation methods listed to accurately describe how you might limit soil erosion on your farm.

Soil Erosion Prevention # 1: Crop rotation

Describe: Crop rotation is planting a different crop on a particular piece of land each growing season

Soil Erosion Prevention #2:Watch out for overgrazing

Describe: Grazing livestock like cattle can maintain grassland habitats and support native wildlife, but overgrazing can be a problem.

Soil Erosion Prevention #3:Consider terracing steep slopes

Describe Steep slopes that funnel water downhill fast. Building a series of level steps into the slope where food can be grown, a practice known as terracing, is an effective engineering solution.

Soil Erosion Prevention #4:Adapt tillage practices

Describe: Soil tillage (digging, stirring, and overturning it) is one of the most practiced methods of preparing the land for growing crops. However, tilling the soil too vigorously can damage its internal structure.

Soil Erosion Prevention #5:Don’t leave soils bare

Describe:A bare soil is particularly vulnerable to erosion. Extreme heat can make some harvests come early, leaving soils bare for longer. Farmers can grow cover crops such as brassicas, legumes and grasses to protect soils from being exposed between periods of crop production.

If could you build a wetland/ marsh detention basin on your farm, where would you dig it? Why is a detention basin an important feature for farms?

Where on the map would you place the wetland/ marsh detention basin?

We would locate our detention basin near lands 5 and 6.

Why are they important for farms?

Detention basins are important for farms since they help prevent flooding and also if they are designed to they can help provide water quality benefits and help reduce streambank erosion. Another reason they are important is wet basins are more effective at removing pollutants.
