2. Government policies/schemes that support elderly in Singapore

The Government has introduced the Pioneer Generation Package to honour and thank our pioneers for their hard work and dedication. They have made Singapore what it is today.

Pioneer Generation Subsidies for MediShield Life Premiums
Pioneers will receive generous generous Pioneer Generation Subsidies of between 40 – 60%, depending on age.

Pioneer Generation Disability Assistance Scheme
Pioneers with moderate or severe disabilities can receive cash assistance of $1,200 per year to help with their care expenses.

Annual Medisave top-ups
Pioneers will receive Medisave top-ups yearly, for life. The amount is fixed, depending on the year the Pioneer was born.

The Pioneer Generation Package provides healthcare benefits for all Pioneers, for life.

Subsidies for Outpatient Care

(a)  At clinics under the Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS):
All Pioneers will receive special subsidies at CHAS General Practitioner (GP) and dental clinics. 

(b)  At polyclinics or Specialist Outpatient Clinics (SOCs):
Pioneers will receive an extra 50% off their bill for subsidised services from 1 September 2014.  From 1 January 2015, Pioneers will receive an extra 50% off for subsidised medications at polyclinics and SOCs.

Summary
Some elderlies face loneliness as some of them are abandoned by their children , some may not have enough earnings to support themselves. Hence , they get subsidy from the government. The government introduced the Pioneer Generation Package to honour the pioneers' hardwork and dedication towards Singapore which made Singapore what it is today. Pioneers aged >65 receives Medisave top ups for life , the package provides healthcare benefits for all pioneers. For example , they receive special subsidies at CHAS General Practitioner and dental clinics. Finally ,  with disabilities can get $1200 per year to help with their expenses.

1.  I feel that we as a group was very cooperative and work well with one another. 
2.The challenges we faced is that we are not able to meet each other a lot and hence we are not able to finish the project on time and need to extend the deadline. We overcame it by texting it other more online and discuss about the project online.

  1. My team is co-operative and everyone plays a part and contributed to this project. Hence our group gave in a lot of efforts to complete this project together.
  2. Due to overload homeworks our CA2, and our CCAs clashing with our project timeline , it is hard for us to meet up and do the project as we have to juggle assignments and this project , nonetheless , we overcame it as we meet up on weekends and communicate through our Whatsapp group. 
  3. Yes it certainly did. This project enhanced my knowledge about the elderly in Singapore and I can empathize them through the interview and I know more elderly are facing financial issues and health problems in Singapore. Hence , the government provides a lot of financial assistance to help the elderly.

 1. It is important to complete task that we were assigned on time so that the group can progress. Listening to others opinions so that right decisions can be made. Fair tasks should be assigned to everyone so that everyone will have equal opportunities work to complete. 

2. Some challenge I faced are being able to meet up with the group on dates that everyone is available and finding a suitable interviewee. All of us had to talk out and list the dates that we are not available until it is narrowed down to a date that everyone is available. Since we do not have much time together, Tasks were assigned to individuals so that preparations can be made beforehand and our work can progress faster. Since most elderly do not have the ability to speak English, queastions that we ask have to be translated and simplify for them to understand. We also have to take into consideration if the elderly is comfortable with their face featured in our video. 

3. With this group project, it has certainly increased my knowledge on the elderly. Much research had to be made to know more and understand them. There are also many privileges for the elderly in Singapore. 1. My experiences working with my group mates was very good as everyone did their work. 
2. Whenever we had a problem, our groupmates would give suggestions to resolve the problem. A challenge that we faced was when we had no elderly to interview as some of our grandparents were in another country or they did not live near to us. To resolve that problem, we decided to interview my neighbour as she was an elderly that was living alone. We also thought that as an elderly living alone, there must be a lot of struggles she has to face. 
3. I think that the project has increased my knowledge and interest on issues that affect Singapore. 1. During the time period of the project,I feel that everyone was very cooperative and put in the effort to finish the project.
2. A challenge that we faced are that we could only meet up very seldom and for short periods of time only,causing the time taken for the project to be longer. Another challenge was that the padlet had some technical problems,and it delayed the project as well.
