I always see lots of infographics floating around in my La Verne email or social media content regarding how to manage stress. A strategy I use is scheduling my stress. I allow myself to feel stressed and then I manage it by either completing the task or breaking down the steps. I tend to follow through with the task if I leave enough time for sleep or fun activities afterward.

Current stress-management strategies I have been using are regular yoga practice, scheduling, and the use of timers. On busy days, I make a point to squeeze in a 20-30 minute yoga or meditation practice before class/homework/or other responsibilities. This allows me to unwind from my workday and gets me prepared to shift into my next activities. Using a 24-hour planner, I fill in my weekly schedule and make sure to incorporate workouts, homework, hanging out with friends, etc. This not only keeps me from procrastinating assignments, but it also ensures that I am taking time for myself and others. I have recently implemented the use of a timer to notify me when I am done or can transition into my next activity. This keeps me from hyper-focusing/over-obsessing over projects (I used to sit for 4+ hours trying to get things done all at once. Not great for my stress/anxiety!)

I manage stress a few different ways that I model for my children. I demonstrate big deep breaths or counting from one to ten. If my mind is constantly filled with thoughts and I have protected time for myself, I will watch one of my old favorite shows on my IPAD called PSYCH. I hardly ever watch tv, so it is a real treat if I get to watch an episode.

Since I am a mom of two young children, I usually model for them deep breaths and now use that for myself. I have been trying to take some time for myself because it seems that I always have something to do. I am trying to practice self-care and leave at least thirty minutes to do something I enjoy doing and regroup.

My "go-to" strategy for stress management is music. I love music, so whether I am listening to film soundtracks or performing, music is a way to get rid of stress and express how I am feeling. If that does not work, then I do the regular deep breathing exercises and stretching.

I love to listen to music and turn on the patio lights at night. At work, my "go-to" strategy for stress management is to take a quick break, regroup, focus, turn on some clam music, and jump back in! :)

My go to for stress management is taking long walks in the cool evenings. I might have to wait a little bit longer to do that with the weather that we are having. You can work a lot of things out and process a lot of information when you walk for an hour. During the warmer weather I really like taking a dip in a swimming pool and float around with my eyes closed under water occasionally coming up for air as needed. I really find those techniques relaxing.

Hi everyone! my "go-to" strategy for stress management is to turn on a candle at home (if I am home) and listen to jazz music. Sometimes when I feel stressed in the car I will completely turn off the music and be in silence. I have found that sometimes music is a bit of a sensory overload for me when I am feeling too stressed/anxious/overwhelmed. I also have the "CALM" app where I can listen to all the relaxing music.
