Crowder Service Award.

During the summer, Hudson Shank helped rising ninth graders and new students transition to the school.
 
He and a few other students created a video tour of the school so incoming students could get a visual idea of the campus’ layout. 
 
When school started this year, despite the fact he was only required to be in school one day a week, Hudson spent every day of the first week showing students where their classes were. He walked around campus to make sure new students knew how to get to their classes.
 
Now, the senior has started a program to provide volunteer virtual tutoring for students and families who need additional support in any subject area working through courses in this new digital learning experience.
 
Hudson also takes the time to focus on his education. With a 4.6 GPA, he’s been a member of the National Honor Society in his junior and senior year.
 
He’s also involved in school activities. He’s currently the president of Student Government and captain of the Piedmont swim team.
 
Hudson is an active member of the LEO club and the Recycling club on campus.
 
The 17 year-old also gives of his time to the community. 
 
He volunteers every year with United Way’s Day of Caring. 
 
Hudson is a member of several community organizations such as Unified Champion Schools, assisting with events such as Special Olympics and Victory Junction by helping prepare for their annual camps.

Kamille is also a member of the National Art Honor Society where she helps organize the Very Special Arts Day for special needs children within the Porter Ridge Cluster. Kamille is also an active member of the PRHS Student Council where she works to create engaging events for the student body. Her service also extends beyond the walls of Porter Ridge. Beginning in her freshman year of high school, Kamille volunteered with Matthews Help Center to organize donations of clothing, food, and school supplies. She cleaned up the center and helped customers find essential items within the Backporch Treasures Thrift Shop. Kamille also found a way to use her love of dance to give back to her community. Volunteering as the Tap Dance Assistant with Rhythm Dance Studio, she taught young girls about the fundamentals of tap dance and worked to encourage them before going on stage. She also spends time once a month with NC MedAssist to sort over-the-counter medications and worked closely with her mother to supply over-the-counter medications and miscellaneous medical supplies to uninsured and low-income families. Even COVID-19 was not able to stop Kamille from her dedication to service. Over the summer she began volunteering with the Covid NineTEEN Project which is an organization created to offer activities and tutoring sessions for children during the Coronavirus pandemic. Kamille tutors children all over the country in math, reading, and science to assist with their educational needs. She also works with the Momentoring Weekly Initiative Team as a volunteer, coordinating mentoring sessions each week and utilizing her graphic design skills to create interactive digital posters for children to complete activities.
