I have always heard that eight cups of water a day is plenty; however, I never feel hydrated drinking that much. I eventually realized that all people need different amounts of water per day, depending on how active they are, what they eat, and their lifestyle. For example, if you eat a fruit or vegetable that Is made up largely of water, you can drink less water throughout the day. Conversely, if you exercise or sweat a lot, then more water will be needed throughout the day.

Don’t shop in the middle of the store. This means to stay in the outer perimeter of the super market, where food tends to be fresh or healthy, as opposed to the center of the store where food is more processed. This is because food that goes bad quickly is kept in the outside of the store so that it can be replaced easily.

I’ve always heard from my lovely mother, “eat and drink everything in moderation.” My mom explains this as any food or drink that’s consider unhealthy, processed, etc. should be eaten in moderation (once a month, twice a month, etc). The majority of our diet should be fresh fruit and vegetables and water, but having sweets once in a while or during a special occasion isn’t bad for you.

My parents have always told me to never shop while you are hungry. As I have gotten older and done grocery shopping for myself I have found this to be so true. Whenever I shop while hungry I tend to buy many foods I do not need and tend to pick out less healthy foods. This is a great tip to save money and pick out healthier items.

Growing up my Great Grandparents would tell me I had to eat all the food on my plate before I could get up from the dinner table. Now that I am older I see how this is one of the worst things you can do. This only causes unhealthy eating habits and sends a bad message to children at a young age and can lead to health and weight problems. Eating until you feel full is what my Mom taught me and that's what I practice now.

Growing up my mom would always heavily influence moderation. This taught me that I can eat less but still enjoy a meal. She would also mention my the "eyes bigger than stomach" phrase. Honeslty I really understand that because there are times when I'm so hungry and think I can eat more than I can handle.
