I observed it in several ways:

1. Abhishek invited our migrant brothers and other civil society organisations to share what they wanted to see in the Recreation Centres that are coming up.

2. Some friends were concerned with the rental flat residents at Merpati Rd not being able to access social service support during the Circuit Breaker period after the stories they heard from doing some door knocking 2 days before Circuit Breaker.

Reached out to the SSA in the area but they were reluctant to share info. So these friends reached out to the residents there to help distribute Needs Assessment forms to their neighbours there, which allowed my friends to provide food distribution and financial assistance.

Always wearing the ABCD lens, I felt that many of the efforts could be better done if community assets were discovered and activated. A good example would be how we engage the migrant workers, which can seem rather disempowering for them.

And personally, I had to reflect a lot too on how relevant ABCD really is during this period, since the focus is a "firefighting", needs-based one.

During circuit breaker, I noticed the increase in different initiatives by individuals/organisations who step forth to help tapping on the assets that they have.

Some examples include hawker stalls who offered to provide meals for the lower-resourced groups; creatives who offered to support hawkers in taking pictures to be placed on food delivery platform.

I was also grateful to be involved in the S3P project where we rally our communities to provide resources for the stayers.

I see social media being used widely to advocate for community needs or band together to support each other.

Social media - is a digital native's asset and the platform itself can send posts viral ><

During circuit breakers, the migrant workers in Singapore were most affected by Covid-19.
One of the assets of the local communities that was leveraged upon was their language.
I saw different ethnic groups come forward to share or consolidate resources for the MWs.
The migrant workers are usually from different parts of Asia and the different ethnic groups came forward to do translations of the resources in the different languages.
This was crucial especially for communication with medical professionals.

I noticed that many people from the community was very forthcoming in stepping out and up to help. This really showed to me the power of the community and that anyone could really do their part or have the ability to give. ~ Caryl

During circuit breaker, it is very interesting as I was forced to find something that I can contribute to make lives at home easier and happier and I see that happening among the people I know around me and discovered some strengths of theirs.

I have witnessed folks from all over Singapore coming together during these last few months. Some have acted as aggregators of resources think those google sheets, some have been sharers - sharing what’s been happening on the ground vis a vis policies and some have been simplifiers making information accessible

During CB, I saw that many stepped up and out of the comfort zone to support one another, giving support and encouragement. Saw someone helping a family who are in need, buying food.

I saw the emergence of Mutual Aid during Circuit Breaker. There was an excel sheet going around that connected people with needs and people with the capacities and resources to provide/share them. http://tinyurl.com/waresmutualaid

I see eateries and restaurants offering drinks and food for the grab riders who are delivering food to people during the circuit breaker period.

Also a youth i know of had some last minute internet issues and couldn't come on board a ZOOM programme, but her neighbour had very powerful wifi in his house so much that it is still accessible in the youth's home. so he shared his internet connection with the youth.
