Dagami Revolt (1565-1567)

The head of the family led a group of 16 to assassinate Spanish soldiers—one of them was Pedro de Arana who was an aide of the first governor general, Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. The assassinations of the Spanish soldiers were short-lived after the Governor-general ordered the locals to speak on who was behind the killings of his soldiers, then prompting the capture of Dagami.

Lakandula and Sulayman Revolt (1574)

Led a revolt in Tondo, Maynila—also known as the Tagalog Revolt. The root of the revolt originated when Guido de Lavezaris replaced Miguel Lopez de Legazpi as Governor-general of the Philippines. He countermanded their promises to exempt Lakandula and Sulayman, as well as their subjects from paying tributes, mainly giving them fair treatment. This enraged both people and led them to revolt.

Pampanga Revolt (1585)

The Pampanga revolt was initiated by native Kapampangan leaders after they were stripped off of their rights to own lands as tribals chiefs/datus. The plan was to attack Intramuros but was stopped even before starting it after a Filipina married a Spanish soldier and the plan was eventually uncovered. The native leaders were eventually captured and executed by Christian Cruz-Herrera.

Revolts Against The Tributes (1589)

Ilocanos, Ibanags, and other Filipinos revolted in the present-day Cagayan and Ilocos when tax collectors allegedly abused them. The natives assassinated six tax collectors coming from Vigan. Governor-General Santiago de Vera sent his troops to pacify the event. The native rebels were eventually forgiven and the Philippine tax system was reformed.

Igorot Revolt (1601)

Padre Esteban Marin was the curator of Ilocos at the time. He tried to peacefully proselytize the Igorots to Catholicism even to the extent of creating his own native dictionary for the Igorots to understand. However, the Igorots killed him in return and thus, the order of the Governor-General sent Captain Arada to control the revolt. The revolt was eventually stopped after Arada used extreme measures and executed the Igorots in the Cordillera region.

Tamblot Revolt (1621-1622)

The Tamblot revolt was a religious uprising in the island of Bohol led by a native priest namely, Tamblot. The Jesuits came to Bohol in 1596 to govern and convert Boholanos to Catholicism. Tamblot wants his fellow Boholanos to return to their former beliefs, thus, the origin of his revolt. He was eventually captured and his head was chopped off and pierced with a spike—displaying a sign of warning to those who plan to do the same.

Panay Revolt (1663)

The Panay revolt was a religious uprising involving a native in the island of Panay namely, Tapar. He wanted to create a religious cult and so he started to spread stories about talking to a demon. This attracted him some followers. Tapar and his followers were eventually killed by the Spanish soldiers. Later on, their corpses were punctured with sharp wooden sticks.

Agrarian Revolt (1745)

Occurred between the years 1745 and 1746 in the present-day Calabarzon and Bulacan. The revolt came forth when Spanish priests took their ancestral lands. This uproot transformed into a heated conflict between the indigenous landowners and Spanish priests after the friars refused to give back their lands. In the end, no lands were given back to the rightful owners who were the indigenous people.

Basi Revolt (1807)

The Basi revolt was led by Pedro Mateo and Salarogo Ambaristo in the present-day town of Piddig in Ilocos Norte. Ilocanos were banned from making ‘Basi’ or sugarcane wine and were forced to buy it from government stores. This started the revolt with it spreading in nearby towns. Unfortunately, Spanish troops subdued the revolt and many natives died.

Cavite Mutiny (1872)

The Cavite Mutiny was an uprising of military personnel of Fort San Felipe, the Spanish arsenal in Cavite, Philippines. Around 200 soldiers and laborers, including the GOMBURZA, rose up to the belief that it would escalate to a national uprising. However, it was unsuccessful and led the government to order the execution of the participants.
