I can sit down and relax to classical music or go out for a run and enjoy some dubstep/trap/ instrumental music or I can enjoy some pop/rap on a long car ride. Similarly, I can do the same with music whose lyrics I can't even understand, but when it come to country or classical country I just can not relate. Well at least this is what I thought before I stumbled onto the song called “Hurt” by Johnny Cash. Prior to discovering Johnny cash's work I did not really a place for country music to fit in. When I saw the Video that went along with the song called Hurt my reality was shattered and I became more open to country music. I learned that the purpose for country music is to tell a story, to share an experience, and to maintain culture. "Hurt" is a very powerful piece and I will briefly share some of my findings about the song to the left. To the Right I will share another aspect to country that is religion through the song called "God's Gonna Cut You Down" also by Johnny Cash. The powerful delivery of the lines by an old Johnny make the lyrics feel more real, and one can really feel the weight of infinite regret in his words. This song also demonstrates how important religion is to the genre of country music. The basic meaning behind the song is that it docent matter who you are because you can't hide from God's power.
