TRENDS IN ICT (SUANSING)

I am about to confess a secret everyone certainly knows about: books do not feel the same way anymore. They used to be the primary source of information for us students. Libraries used to be filled with children in uniform during the weekdays. However, as change is inevitable, pictures of yesterday are no longer compactly running nowadays. Google is who I cling to in navigating the depths of Practical Research 2. I catch up with recent technological advancements (in high hopes of sharpening my prior knowledge of the topics we discuss in Empowerment Technologies class) on Inquirer and Manila Bulletin. I am now even connected more than ever with my friends in a series of clicks on Facebook and Instagram while we grind the night away to finish our requirements on time. A much faster work pace that is, the web system the Internet comes with elevates students' academic journey to a whole lot level of ease. On the other hand, it somehow pushes us to the temptation of compromising our integrity by rampaging any information we get online in our learnings. Is it not every student's guilty pleasure? That certainly is mine! When cramming calls me from the other side of the road, I tend to absorb any information I get online without critically evaluating its relevance to what I am supposed to do. That happens when there are nights I spend scrolling through social media platforms, thinking I will always be able to rush my outputs before I get ready for school the next day, not to realize that I certainly can, but that costs the quality of my work. Due to poor time management from tendencies to commit to unhealthy ICT habits, I also sacrifice my time to enjoy the glories of life outside the Internet.

Just like there are two sides to a coin, there are bad and good sides to everything. In life. In love. Among your friends. And in technology. It is our sole duty, though, to exert full efforts to maximize the good one. In that way, we preserve the essence of ICT as we do not let ourselves get lost along with it.

There is something to be accomplished just by learning about the different kinds of websites. These can be classified into three main types: Web 1.0/static websites, Web 2.0/dynamic websites, and Web 3.0/semantic websites. Each has their own unique traits and way of functioning. However, all of them have great significance for our daily lives. Static web pages can bring us news and articles to stay updated and educated. Dynamic web pages allow individuals to interact with each other online. While semantic web pages cater to our orders on online shopping platforms, the creation of these web pages is vital to ICT as it can promote different ICT skills. From creating digital contents to uploading and even marketing them.
