Mark went to the front office of a local apartment complex to fill out an application. He is staying with his parents until he gets a place and job of his own. After 2 weeks of his hearing his mothers complaints, he finally gets a letter in the mail informing him that he has been turned down for not passing the background check. Upset, he sets out to find a job. After 3 weeks of searching, interviews, and turning in applications, every job turned him down except the gas station. Mark, now with a job, but not enough money to live on his own meets a lot of questionable people while working the night shifts at his work. Now to get his own place Mark has to sell drugs to get fast money. Six months later he is pulled over and arrested after the police find illegal substances in his car. Like most teenage girls in their neighborhood, Jane and Molly had bubbly personalities, wore a lot of bright colors, and had optimistic personalities. During high school, Jane began hanging with a group of friends who were known for breaking the rules. Jane became upset with a teacher and at her new friends' encouragement, decided to start a small fire outside the teacher's house. However the wind picked up, causing the fire to spread fast and destroy the entire house. Jane was eventually arrested and charged with arson. After Jane's arrest, Molly's personality changed. Molly dyed her hair jet black, dressed in all black clothing, and wore black lipstick. This made Molly stand out from the rest of her community and caused much tension between Molly and her parents.

This all changed when a new girl named Jazmine came to her school. Being the nice person Ella is she talked to the girl so she wouldn't be alone. Jazmine and Ella became very close. One day Ella decided to go to a party Jazmine begged her to go to. As the party went on Ella didn't wanna be a party killer so she decided to drink which turned into more drinking, Ella quickly became intoxicated. The next day when Ella woke up she looked at her phone only to see videos of her going around at the party drinking and smoking, the video became viral. Ella cried when she got an email from her dream college taking away her scholarship.
