In addition to the list randomizer, it would be beneficial to use the coin flipper or dice roller to help teach students about probability. The instructor could flip the coin or roll the die to teach the probability of flipping heads, tails, or a certain number.

Name of lesson: High Temperature

Grade Level: 3-5

Mathematics in Lesson: Adding and subtracting from given values/ comparing graphs.

For this lesson, students will complete charts of values by adding and subtracting numbers. Using the data , the students will use to graphs to compare information and identify number patterns. This lesson is great for students in grades 3-5 who are beginning to work with numbers and data. My recommendation, however, would be to let the students create their own graph. Allowing the students to create their own graph allows the deepening of understanding of graphing and data.

Interactive name: Deep Sea Duel

Grade Level: 3-5, 6-8

Mathematics in Activity: Addition

For the interactive, the students will select cards with the correct sum before the opponent. The interactive would be a great way for students to practice strengthening computation skills and increasing speed. My recommendation for the interactive would be to use the device for test preparation or ongoing practice. This will help the students with their mathematical skills and speed over time.

One way that the National Library of Virtual Manipulatives would benefit the lesson would be through creating a bar graph. As the students are working to demonstrate the data, the teacher could use the site to create a bar graphs of student results. In addition to the NLVM website, the teacher could us the NCTM Illuminations to create a smiley-face bar graph to represent data as well.
