A 911 emergency is when someone needs help right away because of an injury or an immediate danger. For example, call 911 if:

There's a fire

Car accident

Etc.

When you call 911, the emergency operator will ask what, where, and who questions such as:

"What is the emergency?" or "What happened?"

Just stay as calm as you can. If you talk too fast, the operator may have trouble understanding what's wrong and what kind of help you need. Give the operator all the information you can about what the emergency is and how it happened.

NEVER call 911 as a joke or just to see what might happen. When the emergency operator has to take the time to talk to people who don't have a real emergency, other people who call and do need help right away might have to wait. This is why dialing 911 as a prank is a crime in many places.
Also, make sure you are safe before you call 911. If your home is on fire, for instance, leave the house before calling 911. You can always call from someone else's house or from a cell phone.

(scene of Vincent taking the bag and running out)
• When officials tell you to evacuate, you need to evacuate.

• DO NOT leave pets behind.
Create an evacuation plan that includes:

A designated emergency meeting location outside the fire or hazard area. This is critical to determine who has safely evacuated from the affected area.

Several different escape routes from your home and community. Practice these often so everyone in your family is familiar in case of emergency.

Have an evacuation plan for pets and large animals such as horses and other livestock.

A Family Communication Plan that designates an out-of-area friend or relative as a point of contact to act as a single source of communication among family members in case of separation. (It is easier to call or message one person and let them contact others than to try and call everyone when phone, cell, and internet systems can be overloaded or limited during a disaster.)

Take instructions and signals that are given to you (pretend you're doing these things)

Actively listen: Try to listen intently, not just hear. When you actively listen, you can better understand what you need to do. Here’s a trick that may help: pretend that there is going to be a quiz after the conversation. Visually think about what's being said and maybe even repeat it in your head. Listen to the radio if that is possible.

Take notes: Instead of trying to remember everything, write it down. There’s nothing wrong with keeping notes; it shows that you are prepared, organized and want to do the job correctly.
