They arrived at the slippery, muddy camp. When they arrived they saw Japanese Americans of the area who had been uprooted from their homes. They filled out a series of forms. They had been assigned to a barrack apartment.

They haven't had lunch. The cafeteria was located beneath the grandstand. The family all clutched a plate with sausages and a boiled potato. The tables were all separated.

Meeting mates back at the barrack

The family's stable consisted of twenty-five stalls. They had an artist, father's barber and his wife, a dentist and his wife, an elderly retired couple, and a group of Kibei bachelors. Then one night a girl had to leave the bed to wake up the son to let his parents into their stable.

Father has been released from Montana

Because of their father's absence, their friends helped them in the camp. But one afternoon about a week after they arrived at Tanforan. A messenger from the administration appeared with a telegram for them. It was a statement that had said "Your father had been realeased on parole from Montana and is coming home."
