A very formative community that I've spent the majority of my life within is the Baha'i Faith. A world religion that embraces the unity of mankind, elimination of prejudice, equality of men and women, and an overall inclusive philosophy that has had a profound impact on my beliefs.

Because of this persecution many Iranian Baha'is have been forced to immigrate to different countries, yet because of this there has also been a great deal of successful teaching efforts and diversification of the faith around the world.

The Baha'i faith encourages a great deal of educational institutions that have influence on communities globally. Among these intitiatives is the Ruhi insitute which is a curriculum that seeks to give guidance on Baha'i theological and moral principles, how people can contribute towards the betterment of their communities, and the improvement of peoples literacy and consultative/collaborative skills. The emphasis of many of these endeavors target youth as they're seen as the spear heads of social change and impetus of growth and development within our communities.

I believe that the significance that education and service has within Baha'i culture encourages a lifestyle that is in tune with the needs of their community. There are many writings that emphasize the harmony of science and religion, and the encouragement of intellectual development as a facet of the collective betterment of society. I feel seeing these endeavors through this holistic mindset creates a solidarity founded on an open-minded desire to learn that distinguishes itself from many other religious dogmas founded on parochial world-views. There is also a great deal of inclusivity and encouragement of diverse perspective within Baha'i educational systems that stands in stark contrast to many of the hidden curriculums that we've discussed in this course.

The Baha'i faith has been an important source of social stability to communities around the world because of its foundational beliefs of universal unity. This unity is founded on action and motivates people to identify the needs of their community and pragmatic solutions. I believe this creates a culture of vigilance that ceaselessly tries to improve the quality of life of communities around the world through edification and social initiatives that are inclusive to people of all backgrounds.
